Our Mission & Vision

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located at 37015 Orange Valley Lane, Dade City, FL  33525 (on the corner of Fort King and Clinton Avenue), was established as a mission church of the American Lutheran Church in 1979.  In 2010 we joined the North American Lutheran Church and Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ and seek to be a blessing to the communities of Dade City and Zephyrhills and surrounding areas!  We are actively supporting missions within our community and striving to expand our reach to support
the proclamation of the Gospels to the ends of the earth.  We are a confessional
Lutheran Church with a liturgy and our services are centered around
the proclamation of the Word of God and the right administration of the Sacraments.
All are welcome no matter where they are in his or her faith journey
and questions are always welcome!
If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and have been baptized,
you are welcome to commune with us at 9:30 am Sunday morning!
We serve communion every Sunday.

Board of Spiritual Oversight and Administration:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes

that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word.

Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry

until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

It is an honor, a privilege, and a joy to be here among you as your pastor at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. While I am still up to my eyebrows in getting my new home together, establishing myself as a resident, walking the dogs twice a day, trying to acclimate to the new environment around me, finding a new primary care physician, and all the other assorted odds and ends of living in a new place and a new space,

I would also like to inform you about several things:

  1. I am open and accessible. Please do not hesitate to ask to meet with me. I don’t bite and I am here to serve you as your pastor.  Don’t consider your needs an interruption. Your needs are not interruptions. They are my job as your pastor.
  2. I am planning, at least for the present, to be available in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If you need to see me, please call and make an appointment        or just stop by.
  3. I would like to visit members of the congregation in their homes or in whatever facility in which they might be living. I have asked for lists of people over 90 years of age and of our shut-ins. Pastoral ministry is necessary care for those in need. I will begin visitation with these people.
  4. I am not Karnak the Magnificent as was Johnny Carson on the old Tonight Show. I do not have ESP and cannot hold a card, with a secret on it, to my head and “poof”… know what it says. I cannot be responsible for things that I do not know. Please contact Selena, or me, in the office if you have a specific pastoral need. She can  relay the information to me. Selena is information central and I will rely on here as I rely on you to inform me of specific pastoral care issues.
  5. Forming people in the Christian faith is a very important part of my ministry. Over the summer there is probably little that we can do in this area but we can plan for autumn when activities ramp up once again; including Bible Studies, prayer groups, and Adult educational programs. There are a variety of things that we can do together to form ourselves in our Christ driven faith.
  6. I am deeply grateful for the ministry of your deacons and hope that they will continue           to assist me in my duties wherever and whenever possible.
  7. I am  also  deeply  grateful for  the  music ministry at Shepherd of the Hills. The bells, the choir, Carole McBride and Kathy Zuziak, are all outstanding team members who make this place sing for joy. I am looking forward to our work together.

Thank you for the honor

of serving among you!
